Oh yes, the light was horrible! We managed to get Esther wholly into the remaining shadows avoiding sun-spots; but the grass on the background still reflected the sun horribly, creating a huge contrast. I made the background less yellow and more saturated now; but I think the lightness of it is the problem. I don't have the original pic here, but when I'm back home I'll try to make it darker.
We intend to do this shoot again on a cloudy day, when the trees are more green. I hope to take better pics then
and I just looked it up and apparently we have no Jackdaws at all in the United States I am going to have to travel the Netherlands one of these days, some of my ancestors did come from there afterall, and see these magical forests and Jackdaws.
It's not actually the background that looks too yellow or light to me, but Esther's face. I'm not sure why it has a yellow tint to it though, because her hand isn't that way? Anyhow, it's a lovely photo, and I really look forward to another series of them!
Aaah, ok! That makes sense, I made the entire pic a bit yellowish to make the contrasts seem less big Her hand has a different colour because we painted her face white, but forgot her hands (another thing to keep in mind next time ). Ah well.. better luck next time
Only suggestion is perhaps to tone down the colors just a bit, like the third one. The yellow is a just a bit harsh to me in this one.
