Dark Forest Through The Years by Nelleke Dark Forest Through The Years by Nelleke
I found this old photo of a dark forest. I had taken it the day I 'discovered' fog in a forest: It's one of my very first foggy-forest photos :) It's taken with a Canon PowerShot A410, my first camera. At the time I editted the photo with the goal of it being a dark and mysterious forest, and it was one of my personal favourites.

I thought it would be fun to compare it with my most recent Dark-Forest-themed photo (I chose the blue version of the photo to make them more comparable) to celebrate five years of photographing foggy forests

My photos are NOT stock. This means I do not want them to be used in any way. I don't mind them being used as a reference for a drawing/painting though: please visit this link for the rules nelleke.deviantart.com/journal…

Do you still use your Canon PowerShot ? For these photos? I use a Canon® EOS Rebel T3 Digital SLR Camera and never have been able to take fog photos or any good photos in the dark.

No one does this type of photograph better than you do!  It's nice to see the photo comparison, and to see how you've grown as a photographer over those 5 years!
Congratulations!

Interesting...  Just yesterday I read an interesting comment on another artist's page here on dA saying that, whenever you browse through someone's gallery, you should always go to the last (oldest) page to see where that particular artist is coming from.  It gives you an idea of how the artist has developed over time (especially if he or she has been on dA for some time).

The comment is on *jennystokes page, under "REMEMBER".

I think your side by side comparison is very much like her comments.

It is interesting to see this early image, and how it has developed over the years as you've honed your style (and upped your equipment budget).

It seems to me sometimes, that Art changes BUT not much in the end.???

While the first one isn't a bad photo, the second is clearly much better. I went through a load of my early photos the other say, and none of them were anywhere near as good as yours.

I look forward to seeing what your forest photos will be like in another five years time.
