This is the finished version of a pic I started a year ago. I uploaded her face back then: [link]
And here's a close-up of her face: [link]
I really, reaaaally hate this pic but I had to finish it. There are a million things I'd want to change but then I could just as well start over, so instead I just shaded quickly to be done with it.
Her real name was Elisabeth, but in the story she gets a new name, Darcy. And believe it or not, the stupidness of that only just came through to me, so I'm gonna have to come up with a different 'real' name.
what did you want to change ?
i cant see a thing thats bad about this drawing

How in the world could you hate this?!? It's absolutely, amazingly beautiful! Her dress, and her face, and the room! They are all so beautiful, and it feels good to see some traditional art from you with pencil! The thing I've always loved about your art is the details you add, and this is one of those pictures when I think it would definitely take me a year to draw...and it apparently it really did for you. Your time was well spent, and all of the details in the background are so lovely! The couple in the back dancing is really unexpected, as the main character seems to be enjoying some private moment. And the chandeleirs and the curtains are expertly drawn! And I absolutely adore the windows in the background with the night scene in them! Overall, this picture just takes my breath away!

I would appreciate any pointers you can give me on my art and photography!
I get that way sometimes myself. I'm never too entirely happy with the works I bust out because I always see all the many things I could change or all the errors I left unfixed, but never end up doing it...
Starting over is probably the best way you can learn. Also it gives you room to compare instead of erasing the mistakes you made and making them over again--or better yet, creating new ones.
Great job by the way, even if it's for a piece you hate, heheh. Keep up the superb work (^-^)!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
